now i know that its not the gauge itself that is the problem. im fairly sure that the tank must be dirty or something inside of it that the float is getting caught on. for ages it was stuck on 3/8 full then all of a sudden it starting working when i gave it a full tank. now it seems stuck again?

anyways, is there anything that would fix this, like a dump in cleaner, ive seen some around, just not sure if thell do what i want em to

I don't know of a cleaner that will fix your sending unit. It sounds like you need to replace the sending unit. Our sponsor has them for a good price.

Honey, its not a $200 hat. The distributor was $200, the hat came with it. kevin d

check the ground where it connects to the sending unit on the tank, sometimes they just get dirt and crud on the connection

The filter on the fuel pick-up on the sending unit. It's a mesh "sock" that fits on the end of the tube...
