Can anyone give me some results from using Flowtech headers? I took most everyones advice and built a 4 bolt main 350 for my 84 4X4 and kicking the 305 to the lake. i bought a set of 1-5/8 flowtechs for new motor and flange design has me wondering if I'll have sealing problems. the tubes stick out farther than the flange. they seem to bolt up ok but I guess I am use to old school design of flat flange against motor plus I have not installed any headers in 25 years.
thanks

I was wondering the same thing a while back because my Hooker Super Comp headers have the same thing. They seem to be working just fine though. I am just using the thin Fel-Pro gasket too.

I think they design them that way to drive the tube itself into the gasket. That way if the flange warps slightly or there is misalignment it should compensate. My Dynomax are the same way, no sealing issues. I'm using soft aluminum gaskets.

I had a set of flowtech on my 64 when it had sb, was really nice fitted well and sealed fine.

as far as the picture its exactly the same. Its good to hear no one has had a problem with sealing and your right about crushing the gasket because thats the impression i got when i test fitted them to motor while its still on stand. plus they came pre-dented for the #1 cylinder. I will give them a chance. I,m getting so old I remember the old days getting headers to fit and allways had sealing issues but it sounds like technology has taken over in a good way, Thanks for comments

I got three different sets of flowtechs for a small block and had to send all three back, poor workmanship, bad welds and HOLES in the tubes, but this was about ten years ago, maybe now they have better QC now, good luck with whichever brand you choose.
I use a solid copper gasket on my big block and have no leaks, and no loose header bolts.
Hope this helps.
