Re: Lazy people asking questions first without using the search.

What constitutes a decent question? we all work on different levels of expertise. I've been around here quite a while and ultimately have answered some of the same questions over and over, and have seen the same questions asked 500 different ways.

Is the guys question who just purchased a Chevelle for a hobby and something to do in his spare time who virtually has no mechanical experience, who finds this place and comes here for advice on what you or I might find to be the simplest of questions, like how to remove your tumbler out of your ignition switch! There a classic that get asked month after month.

Is that guys question any less decent than an experenced engine builder who might ask is 0.0005 or 0.00035 better when using Clevite 77 mains, is .008 to much end play between the crank and thrust bearing?

I guess my point is if you waited for what you think is a decent question you might be looking at a blank screen.

I've worked on cars for 38 years, I do have a clue when it come to mechanics, but I never knew the specifics, and indepth details on my Chevelle until I came here. Simple questions for someone who's had Chevelles for 40 years, not so simple for for someone who just got one for the first time.

And a special thanks of gratitude to the people who answer my questions by PM, You know who you are. It's you folks who expanded MY knowldge base and didn't deem my questions not decent enought to answer! It's the knowldge you have shared with me, that has made it possible to share with others.

If you don't share how to remove your lock tumbler with a new person, (Even tho it's been asked before) pretty soon no one will know how!!!

I thought we were supposed to be a brotherhood of Chevelle owners, trying to help one another out, But only if it's a decent question.

I didn't think it was a lemming at all, I just thought it was a stupid comment.

I haven't been around here that long, the search feature here is a pain...I use it because of the rudeness of many members here, there is just a wealth of info here, finding it can be very difficult. Out of the 4 or 5 forums that I visit, this place has some of the rudest people. When Team Chevelle is brought up at other forums...it's usually leads to the piss-poor attitudes that float around here, that's a shame cause there is way more great people here than there are butt-heads.

in short...if you can't reply in a positive manner...don't reply at all... you are giving this place a bad reputation

Isn't this a little like the pot calling the kettle black?

Why don't you ask for a REFUND then

Rocky
you could say that, point taken, but this thread is about...Flaming people for asking questions on previously covered topics

I looked at it as constructive criticism, but that's my opinion and observations

Why don't you ask for a REFUND then
perfect example of my observations

They could make it a sticky! Thatway we would not have to do this all over again in a month or so!:D
No way! If you're gunna sticky something of mine, sticky one of my carb questions that doesn't get answered! I posted this one just as a dumb observation, I didn't know it would be one of my banner posts. :p

Still searching, still searching, still searching
Until my dying day, oh yeah
Why? yeah
Surprise, surprise
Still searching, still workin', still lookin'
Until i find my way
I'm a drifter who has lost his way
And i'm still searching for my dream

:hurray:

I find that many times there is a previous post with the answer I need, but it has a link to a picture or another web site and because it is so old the link no longer works. If you say it is already been asked, then why don't you do the search and provide the link.

Should I or shouldn't I? Oh hell yes, I always wondered about what questions have/not been asked and if they all have been asked have they all been answered?
I've personally chased more than one topic from here to the internet and back only to have more questions than when I started. If it's all been asked and answered, this forum can become a read only and a vertual ghostsite.
I look at this forum as an educational tool. There are thousands of people that just pass through, reading certain threads along the way. If a thread is discussing a problem and even if it has been beat to death, if I think I can add to it, something that possibly been overlooked, or sometimes you have to start looking at possibilities and not probabilities. The probabilities have already been covered and beat to death. Not every problem, even though it sounds routine, will have a routine solution.
I would like to learn something every time I visit this forum. I would like to share my experience if i can help.
This topic reminds me of a thing that happened with the US Patent Office. At on time it was suggested that the office be shut down because most everything had already been invented. History proved that there were a few things still on the table.
I think there are/were questions presented here that were not answered. I really don't want to bring them up or start a new thread because they have been asked before and I don't want to get my face slapped and run out of here on a rail.
All in all there is more comradery here than anywhere else I've frequented, that is what brings me back. (wiping tear from eye)
