Been here one week. Best move of our entire life. Daughter loves the H.S. shes in (Central, Go Chargers!!) and the wife is ecstatic about all the antique shops and a slower/easier way to live life. We are in the DFW area (City of Keller) (Woodland Springs - actually Fort Worth with a Keller address) and is what we now call home. Took 3 years to make the escape out of California.

Time to get the 'velle ready for some car shows now - of course when its cooler to work on it - maybe next summer she'll be ready. :beers:

I just passed through Fort Worth yesterday. I love Texas too! I'm glad I moved here. I miss my parents and my sister, but I still get to see them a few times a year.

Glad to have ya'!

I was sentanced to SoCal for three long years, I've been out for a year. My blood pressure must have dropped 40 points. I can't believe people can live like that happily. Good luck with your new life.

I've been looking around, and for the money, can't seem to draw my eyes off of Texas. Grew up in San Antonio, but I can't see going back there right now, with the job market as it appears to be. I've been eyeing the Corpus Christi area, and it's looking promising. Being that my background is marine diesel mechanics, I doubt I'd have any trouble with work. I can bring my kayak, too. ;) I'm working on painting my house, maybe some fresh tile, and then most likely selling next summer, if the market here will bear another year of increases in value. Who knows, hopefully it'll work out well for me.

It must be nice in the DFW area. My parents retired and are volunteering for a place in Duncanville, TX. Got a letter this week saying that they are going to stay and do their vacation excursions from there.

Congrats on your move. :)

With the oilfield going like it's going, and no end in sight, there aren't enough diesel mechanics to keep up with it!

However, there are more than enough kayakers around here. One more won't hurt a bit. :)

Welcome,

And speaking of car shows, there is one in Keller today. It also has a blood drive so we may go check it out. I think it runs from 11:00 - 4:00.

Glad to see y'all made it here AS FAST AS YOU COULD. I'm over here in Granbury, a place where good car shows happen and women love to shop in.
The next two big happenings in the DFW, are the SW swap meet, and the Goodguys show at Texas Motor Speedway in the first weekend in Oct.
Hope to meet you soon.

Jimmy, Shhhhhhhhhh.... He doesn't need to know about Granbury just yet. Or rather, his wife doesn't need to know about all the antique stores on the square down there. ;)

Welcome to Texas. If you like racing, your 2 closest dragstrips are Kennedale(Texas Raceway) and Denton(Denton Dragway). Both 1/8 mile,Denton has talked about expanding to 1/4.Closest 1/4 is Ennis(Texas Motorplex) which isn't very close. There's also Redline(Royce City/Caddo Mills),Cedar Creek,& Yellobelly(Grand Prarie/Dallas*USE CAUTION HERE*),there's a 1/4 being built in Crandall also. There's a bracket series that runs all the tracks here called Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge that's a good place to meet people.

Congratulations on "The Great California Escape". Left southern California myself, back in May 1990, and still have no desire to return. The slower/easier way of life here, as you mentioned, .. is the first thing I observed. The 2nd is ... drivers, over all, are much more courteous. And, of course the seasonal humidity.
