Every time I'm under my car, I find myself staring at it, wondering how much torque that factory mount bracket will take. It looks a little sketchy. I was thinking of welding some gussets on it just for some extra insurance. It has solid motor mounts and a poly trans. How much power have you guys put to one?

if you're running solid motor mounts I can't see the cross member getting a whole lot of stress....

That's kind of what I was thinking Davey, it just has always looked weak to me, and the nitrous hits like a ton of bricks. I'm always looking for weak points to address and try to stay away from breakage, but a guy could go nuts upgrading everything on these cars. My Grandfather always said "Don't fix what's not broke.", but there is something to be said for preventative maintenance. Rick, I have the wagon frame that is boxed from the factory, so the mounting point is a little more stout than the car frame. The downside is the extra weight.

The factory Chevelle transmission crossmember is very stout and I don't think you have anything to worry about, especially with solid motor mounts. It is however, important that the crossmember is attached to the frame with good quality fasteners and washers on both ends of the bolts.
