i think your right. i might only be around 9.5 comp. not sure on my deck height. pistons are speed pro h693cp60 ( JEGS NUM )
he said the afr was around 13. when he starts talking afr stuff it's like teaching me calculus ? :(

13 is great I reread Solid roller cam and hp peaked at 5800 ??? and your torque higher than HP .torque is pbly right with that big cam and 9-1 cr......... HP you need to rev it higher if it wont go then check the valve springs frankly I dont think you have the right cam for your combo of cr and those heads

Yep you would have seen more HP if he rev'd it higher and the carb was better matched your torque is Ok ........get a good 950hp and have fun your close, with those heads thats the max timing you need I think your down on compression but it is what it is .....smaller duration cam would have been a better match see what drives like on the street

Should have pulled it higher, it was still gaining hp when he ended the pull at 5800....I bet its closer to your 550hp goal at 6000-6100...

Probably should be around 6500 with that sized cam. My 248/254 SR in my 509 goes to 6500+, pks around 6100.

The way I see it, that pull is about 1000rpms, or close to it, too short.

BUT - the dyno sheet doesnt show the HP jumping up too much as its rev'd. Something isnt right.

Seems low. My motor (see specs below) made 520 hp @ 5600 and 540 tq at 4100, and that's with 063 heads, hyd roller cam, fewer cubes. My hp dropped to 500 @ 6,000, so it was on the way down.

Maybe it's just a matter of different dynos and/or correction factors. I'd stick the motor in the car and take it down the track, play with your shift points and see what it does.

Why didn't the dyno guy run it until the hp numbers started dropping?

People have unrealistic expectations of a 468 with low compression and a middle of the road cam. I doubt that one with stock heads is very likely to make over 550 h.p., especially at 5800 rpm. My old 454 made about 540 and ran 11.15 @ 126.76 with a good deal of tire spin but i'm pretty sure it had about 540 h.p. I never got a good clean leave but i felt it could have gone 10.80s, or so, with some bite. Very few of those who guessed 600 h.p. have ever had a 600 h.p. engine or a ten second car. I haven't seen average roller cams really pick up a lot of power either, in a big block, my son put a 268/272 solid roller cam with .714 lift in a 481 and it picked up one hundreth of a second and lost one mph over a ZL-1 solid lifter cam.
