Ever throw something up for sale and wonder if its worth the effort? For instance I have a dual quad setup. got it advertised in town, I get emails from all over the country. If I was selling it all over the country, It would be on ebay, I get calls about paying me with paypal, I dont have paypal, I only take cash. Got one guy that wants me to sell him 1 carb? Kind of defeats the purpose of a dual quad doesnt it?
Okay, enough complaining...
Now for the rave.... Checking out craigslist Christmas morning, I must have been real good this year, because I see a chevelle 12 bolt for sale for 50 bucks! I emailed and got a response later that day, Guy told me I was the 1st of about 10 responses. So I got first crack at it, I had to wait a day until he got back in town, Its a 2.56 open, Im only using the housing and axles, Ive got a 3.31 setup in the shed. Now I just have to find another car to put it in. jim

I understand about it being world wide, but I advertise this stuff on the tucson craigslist. Alot of times I'll put trade for guns and stuff too, actually, Id rather trade most of my junk, and its hard to trade across the country, plus there are legal issues mailing guns person to person. Jim

I posted our old baby crib for sale months ago and sold it right away. I have edited the ad to additionally read "SOLD SOLD SOLD" on the subject line and wrote the word like 50 times at the bottom of the ad. I keep getting emails from crazy old women like this:

Do you still have this bed? I would like more information, new grandma needs everything.. Thanks
You have no idea of some of the things I'd email back if my wife wasn't watching over my shoulder.:D

I always just delete the ads when something is sold.
That way their email messages bounce back to them.

Haven't had much good to say about Craigslist.Found a few things relatively local, but until about a week ago didn't have any luck selling.Always get the yahoos who can't read or type in some slang I can't understand. Then of course the "YO you don't have to sell your car, check out my link"or "Please to be sending me specifics address condition etc, needing to be purchasing your item/s".Oddly enough listed my ill-fated 67 convertible project on Craigslist two days before Christmas"for about the fifth time" and it did sell.Buyer was so local might as well consider him a neighbor.Listed on Craigslist and Racingjunk as well as TC and had people mostly from the west coast reply.Debating as to whether or not to list extra parts on Craigslist or just skip the aggrivation and only post on TC.

Bad--I had a set of Aluminum slots for sale. 4 people asked about them. 3 said they were coming and never showed up...1 won't return the message I left him saying they were still available.

Good-:D- I sold my used snowblower for $110. I bought it over 20 years ago...used...for $200.

You can cut out 90% of the non serious buyers by NOT listing an e-mail address and listing your phone number. I have had the best luck with that. If someone is serious they will call you.
Agreed, this is one way to weed out some idiots. If you choose to go the other route, just don't respond if they don't leave their number. You can usually tell by the questions they ask if they're serious or just lonely or shopping. Also, leave a detailed discription and include wether you would ship or not. Craigslist has been a big help to me but I had to learn fast how to read between the lines from strange responses.
