I found a good frame locally that has been powder coated and it's cheap. I have a 1972 chevelle coupe. My question is are all the frames the same from 64-72 for a bodies? It says it is for a 64-67 a body. Thanks alot.

Looking at art Morrison chassis they show that they make a 64-72 a body frame to fit them all. That's why I was thinking I might be able to use an older frame. Still waiting to find out what the frame originally came from.

If you can take the price of the Art Morrison chassis... These are engineered to be 'universal' for 64-72 A-body cars and require a lot of specialized components especially since the wheelbase of 68-72 are different from 64-67 as well as the wheelbase is different in a 2 door vs a 4 door/wagon/pickup.

I have a Hollander's section on frames on my website on page http://chevellestuff.net/qd/frames.htm you might find useful.

I wish I could afford a art Morrison chassis, I'll try to get pictures and find out what year it's off of tomorrow. But a powder coated frame with tubular upper and lower control arms and drop spindles for $700 is a steal. So when I find out more info tomorrow I'll let you guys know. Thanks for the replys.

Hi Brian,
If the ad says 64 - 67 "A" Body, be careful that it is not a Buick, Oldsmobile or Pontiac Frame. Those frames are 3.27" longer than the Chevelle frame in back of the rear axle. The front frame horns on the Olds frame are different as well. As everyone else pointed out, the 68 - 72 frames are definitely different from the 64 - 66 and 67 frames.

What Is the wheelbase of a 1970 SS Coupe? Someone said- 116"
Also what is the wheelbase of a 1970 El Camino?
I thought 70 Coupes were 112" and El Caminos were 116"?
And the correct answer is................................................??
