One would think that the people who make the reproduction door skins would call the people who make the reproduction window moldings, or the people who make the reproduction window moldings would call the people who make the reproduction door skins and say “where did you put the screw holes”.

Concur, Just a little communication goes along way.

Some pictures. Minor adjustments needed to the gaps. The door/fender gap on the driver side is being especially annoying.

Sorry for the lousy pics. I have this section of the garage walled off with plastic until I'm sure I'm done painting, so I can't get back far enough to one side or the other to get a good angle. I'd push it out the overhead door but there's a lip and I'd never get it back in again. I could with just the body but when I put the doors back on I almost had a stroke.

Hi Andy, What did you paint the inside of your tail lights with (silver)?
They look very reflective.

I used chrome spray paint.

Haven’t been doing much. It’s so hot now. I’ll probably wait until September.

I did get the tail panel moldings installed. I originally decided not to polish my originals and just replace them because they were pitted, so I bought reproduction moldings. They sucked ass - too long, too narrow, not the right profile, incredibly thin metal, so I stuffed them in the garbage can and spent considerable time sanding and polishing the originals. They aren’t perfect but at least they fit.

I bought reproduction grill moldings from Goodmark. They barely fit. You can tell they are reproductions but the originals were hopeless.

I can’t believe we’re still having these issues with reproduction parts.

Getting there, slowly but surly (y)
it’s a little slow with the insulation since it’s so cold. I’ve got the passenger window to finish installing and then run the underdash wiring, so that stuff can sit and relax a bit.

Been a while since I posted. I’ve been making some good progress. The car is painted, body is back together, dash is assembled, almost all the wiring is done. I need a few more components and I should be able to wrap up the under hood area. The biggest part is rebuilding the too frame.

Glad to see you're still getting after it. I look forward to you documenting your top rebuild. I have 2 top frames I'm hoping I can get at last 1 good one made from the two, or at least use one to stay intact as a guide to rebuild the other.

Ok, it’s been a while. I’ve been hanging out more at the other Chevelle site because I enjoy the politics talk. Anyway, Chevelle was kind of on the back burner for a while. I’ve stepped up my parts business and it is now my sole source of income. Plus my son in addition to racing is now hot and heavy on the guitar. He started out plinking on my Strat last summer and has gotten to the point where we went to the music store and split the cost on a Jackson X-Series and signed him up over at School of Rock. We’ve also been participating in a club racing slot car series and catching a lot of cool concerts. Scored Metallica tickets for November. As much as I miss my Chevelle, he’s only 12 once, and only going to discover this stuff once, and it’s an absolute blast being along for the ride.

Got in a lot of work on the Chevelle in the last two months. Interior is in, top frame is on and working, basically everything except wheels and tires, bumpers, final polish, mouldings, and a final clean up.

Hey Stranger, was wondering if you fell off the planet. Looks like you're on the final lap with your Vert. Looking good.

At least you are making progress. Sounds like you have many other things going on. Maybe make a vow to do one or two things a week. Such as install one piece of molding or hook up one light. Over a year that would be 50 or 100 items crossed off the list.

I’m pushing hard. I want to get it done. I’m making myself concentrate on my convertible to get it finished even though I have two other projects waiting. I have a serious drivetrain issue with the Honda and I figure it’s time to rebuild the engine to FSP specs, plus I had a small argument with a bollard in the 7 and messed up the right front suspension. That’s getting a wide track front kit and Nitron dampers and springs which should make it handle much better.

Right now I’m looking for a good set of wheels and tires for the Chevelle, then I’ll be able to get it outside.

Those long tailpipes are great for toasting marshmallows.
