even with 11.5:1 compression and a small cam... 278ADV and 240@050.... I get around 170-180 psi on all 8 cylinders? is that normal or does that seem a bit low?

i will be swapping in open chambered heads in the future and should get it to 9.5:1... but wont that lower my cranking compression even lower to the 130ish level?

or am i just being stupid and worrying over nothing?

That seems a bit low but depends on cranking speed & ILC. Did you have the throttle wide open?
Is the cam solid or hyd.?

I just did my motor last night and with 11-1 and a cam with 280-284 duration 690 lift 112ICL I got 185-195 on 4 pumps. On the last motor with Merlin heads,TRW 2242 pistons Comp Cams 294S cam I'm guessing 9-1 compression I had 150 lbs. cold
