I have a 74 chevelle sbc aluminum heads, aluminum intake and radiator, PS, PB, no AC, muncie four speed. What front coilovers spring would you recommend 450 or 550 from the Viking coilovers? This is a street car but I hate how cushy and wobbly it is now.

Who are you buying your Viking Coil Overs from ?

I bought all my Suspension Parts from UMI Perf and they provided me with great advise on what springs etc to use

Have you bought Front & Rear sway Bars yet ??

I purchased the following from UMI Perf and found them to be
of the best looking & quality that I have ever seen/used;
1. UMI Perf 64-67 GM A Body Rear Lower Boxed / Adj Upper Control Arms # 402126
2. UMI Perf 64-72 GM A Body Solid Front and Rear Sway Bar Kit # 403534
3. UMI Perf 64-72 GM A-Body Tubular Upper & Lower Front A-Arm Kit # 403133
4. UMI Perf 64-72 GM A-Body Viking Front Coil Over, Dbl Adj Shocks # A205-550T = 550 Lb Springs for my BBC
5. UMI Perf 64-72 GM A-Body Viking Rear Dbl Adj Shocks # B220
6. UMI Perf 64-72 GM A-Body Tie Rod Adjusters # 2103
Also I added the Rear Frame Cross Brackets.

The difference in ride quality/handling , went to firm and stable,
that I have acquired with the great parts from UMI Perf I put on from the previous original type Springs
and Shocks ride which was like riding on a log road,
so it has been a night to day type change in ride and handling response .

UMI Perf shows 4 different Lb options for the Viking Coil Overs for your car;
1973-1977 GM A-Body Viking Front Coil Over Kit, Double Adj, Poly. [A204-xxxR] - $498.99 : UMI Performance, Inc.
Front Spring Rate Options:
250lb- 11” tall springs for drag race only. Serious lightening required.
350lb- Small block cruise or drag race with lightening required.
450lb- Small block cruise, big block drag race.
550lb- Small block handling, all big blocks except drag

If you talk to Ramey on how you will drive your car I am sure he can guide/advise you accordingly

I am planning to buy from UMI, I have a big sway bar in the front and a big sway bar in the back. 2" drop spindles in the front as well. Planning to drop the rear an inch with bilsteins or if I'm feeling froggy I'll go with the UMI monotube resr shock.

I have the Viking coilovers on the front of my 71. I went with the 550 pound springs, but I think you would be fine with the 450 pound units (I have an aluminum head small block + AC). Don't get carried away with the shock adjustments - I am back down to on click on the compression and 5 clicks on the rebound. It is much better than all the previous settings I tried.

My dad knows his way around coilovers so I'll have him give me a hand and of course UMI would be helpful for advice. You think I could get away with the 450s on a 99.9% street car?
