I don't have first-hand experience but Cliff literally wrote the book on Quadrajets. I've had that book for at least 20 years.

What Ed said. I need a Qjet to support a 600 hp rat , so I called Cliff this summer and that is the reply I got.

BTW, has anyone here heard of Harold Bettis? I happen to have a race Qjet built by him on loan from Mark Jones. My transmission folks ( AutoGear M23z) knew all about him. Called him a "flow guru".

Cliff took a while to get the carbs done, but I needed one done on my truck pretty quickly. I drove there with the intention of leaving it there, but with a little nudging to try to persuade him to get it rebuilt quickly. He rebuilt it while I waited, and he did a nice job. Nice guy.

The MAIN problem was that the car talk stuff started and I totally forgot about about the wife in the car. That did not go well...:D

Are you looking to have your carb rebuilt or fully restored?

Tom can take care of you if you're looking for a rebuild. If you're looking to have the carb restored, I can help.

Here's a 7040204 I restored.

Do you do any performance stuff or do you concentrate on factory correct?

What amount of power do you consider a Quadrajet capable of?

I will do mild performance work on Quadrajets, but I don't get into full race type builds on them.

Properly set up, a QJet can support 600+ without trouble, but at that point the modifications required start to detract from its driveability manners.

Yes I've bought a few things from them. I once bought a built up Pontiac 462 that I flogged for 75,000 miles without any issues. Its still running out there today.
He topped my motor off with a special Brad Urban/Cliff Ruggles built Quadrajet. It had all the cool little things like adjustable TPS.

Cliff is straight up, your not going to do better..

You might want to have him install a "ported" vacuum port for vacuum advance. Many people out there mistake the timed port as ported.

Also see if you can get the TPS adjustment..

You will wait though..

He sells a book with his rebuilding tips..

The older Qjets had it in the base. not sure of the years 68-74-5 maybe. Newer had the plug you can knock out of the top & thread in a screw or plug.

Thanks to those who posted kind words about me. You're appreciated, believe me.

I don't do restores because of the chemicals needed for coloring. not home shop stuff.

Von is right about the little needle screw. I've kinda given up those. I did get one loose a year or so ago. Used oxy-acetylene torch, with much time and WD-40. ran my oxygen bottle dry. I can usually get about anything apart but the time is the killer. I had like 4 hours in that baseplate APT screw, no real good way to bill out anything like that.

Beth, see PM from me.

Are those upper rear flaps modified? I have only seen that kind of thing on Pontiacs, and they were square.

you can, I have, but it won't necessarily work. I've had them to where a low viscosity fluid like WD-40 would run right through but I still can't get the screw to turn. I've broken the screwdriver slot in a couple trying, not to mention a few nice pocket screwdrivers.

So I sent a Qjet to Cliff in Feb 2019, he would never actually ever verify if he ever received it,,always tell me he was running behind,
then he told me all his employees quit on him, so he was solo,,,he has had my carb for 8 months now and has not started on it.
I finally told him to just send it back to me. He said maybe Mark at Quadrajet Power could help me and he supposedly sent it
to him. I looked at Marks website and he is saying 10 week lead time..... I dont really even know where my carb is at this point!
since no one has ever had the common courtesy to tell me!

anyone have experience with Quadrajet power?

true, however the parts catalog clearly states my 67 AIR, Manual trans shall have 7037203
so thats what I'm putting on!:wink2:
even though my car is a documented 1 owner car,,the carb thats on it is clearly numbered for a '68 BB
the owner tells me he never changed it.....??? go figure:surprise:

I see that in mid-68 they switched from a circle tag to a stamped vertical number so the "13" has to be made after 1967.

Keep looking, I'm sure one will pop up on ebay at a reasonable price.

You could also just buy one just for parts and just use the body with the correct circle tag on it and use the parts from other carbs.

I have been looking for a year have only seen 2 come on ebay,,this one for 1500 and some other rusty piece of rubbish for like 600 dollars
yes a nice disc would be good to transfer! although I have been told most of them have been sandblasted when overhauled back in thday
both of the ones I have seen suffered from this
