How can i strip the already peeling chrome off my diff cover?

Take it to a chrome plating shop and they can strip it.

If that's one of those offshore chrome covers,ditch it and get a stamped OEM one.
If you want chrome,chrome the OEM one as it isn't going to leak.

The first owner of my 70 SS told me the first thing he replaced was the diff cover.He said he always wanted a chrome one...?....so in Dec of 70 he put this one on and i want to replace it with a oem one.
