Hi everyone,

Just got a 287 casting number cast iron intake manifold for my 70 El Camino SS 396. My question is how the date coding on these intakes were. Were they letter month or julian calander dates? I have what looks like either a C 31 70 or it could be 0 91 70. It kind of looks like a C but the open area seems to have a ridge on it also. The 3 might be a 9 because the top part of the 3 looks like there is a ridge where the open part of the upper part of the 3 is. Any insight on this would be much appreciated.

Brain, If I am correct,it should decode as the following. C=March 31=day of month 70=year. So your intake was cast March 31 1970. Casting dates are usually around 3 months prior to build date.Give or take a month......Jim
