I had the XR1s on my last 70 and loved them!! Would love to put them on my new project but recall they were a nightmare to out on as they dont make them in an offset configuration, just center 9f muffler in and out.

Anyone running them or any other non offset mufflers? How did you make it work?

Going to run 3" pypes tailpipes and their x or h pipe.

Would love to get the XR1s on there.

Pat, I just had a new exhaust installed a few weeks ago. I used the MagnaFlow 3 inch kit and went with the Borla XR-1 (Pn# 40943) 12 inch mufflers. The kit was set up for offset inlet/ center outlet. I had a local fab shop install it for me. They had some issues making it fit. The combination of one of the tailpipes not formed correctly and the center/center mufflers made it difficult. The tailpipes were done in 5 pieces. It cost abit more for the additional time, but well worth it. Sounds great. (y) 😎

That's the exact same reason why I haven't gone with the Borla XR-1 muffs. I really wanted to since I've heard nothing but good things about them. But that center/center inlet/outlet design just spells trouble for our cars when it comes to installation. Of course it isn't an impossible situation to work around. Just more extra work than I care to engage in for merely a pair of mufflers, and that's after paying from 2 to 3 times more for them than other muffs cost.

I know that they're made with the more durable 304 SS grade instead of the cheaper 409 ss as most others are. I just don't need the extra hassle.

Agreed it is not worth the headache. I will go with Spintech 6000 or Dynamax Ultraflos
