You're welcome - See post 9, they fit better than anything I've ever used on a SBC.

They were coated but I repainted them with VHT Flame Proof Ceramic coating rated for temps 1300 to 2000 degree without discoloring. I love it!

Because I got them used, from a friend that went twin turbo and they where only used 4 times. In his 65 they had to remove a tube to get them in and then had tabs to bolt it back in place. On a 70 this is not necessary and I hated it. So I cut the stupid leaking tabs off, welded it the tube back in place and made them look pretty again.

I had used Hedmans plain steel shortys when my 67 had its 283.
Those fit extremely well, and went in from the top on both sides in a few minutes.
The only thing I had to remove was the plugs, and they were never an issue when installed.

Here you go, pics of both sides. Hedman 68290 in a 69.

A few more in case you are not convinced.... ;)

Darren, How long has that paint been on them and how is it holding up? The HTC coating is nice ,but seems to develop rust after 2-3 years and adds substantially to the price. It's easier to "clearance" a set of $200 headers than $450 ones.

I took the pictures y'all sent out to my car. I have a Classic Auto Air AC in it now, the compressor bracket mounts off #2 cyl. rear & #4 cyl. front exhaust manifold bolts. With headers I would need a 3-4" long bolt & spacers with headers. I think having that much weight hanging off two bolts sticking 3-4" out would be a vibration with AC on. They make a bracket for the alt that looks like it should work. Anyone have aftermarket AC with headers?

Jeff, about 1 year now, but they are mostly coated under that with the exception of where I welded them. I don't expect that engine to last 3 years anyway, I drive hard. :)

Gary, the trick is to sleeve the longer bolt, look at my power steering pump, front driver side. No issues at all.
