I just finished welding the drivers side brackets in following the directions and measurements provided by Bryan Simon. Everything went right into place and the seat position is exactly where it should be. But here is what I am seeing. The left side (outboard) seat tracks are sitting lower than the right side (inboard) tracks. This is causing the seat to lean to the left. I know that the measurements are correct because the studs slip right through the track holes. I know that I used the correct inboard bracket for the drivers side as well.

The only thing I can think of now is that the seat tracks may be wrong??? I don't really know what kind of car these buckets came out of so I am not sure if the tracks are right or not. It does appear that the right side track is taller than the left. I could always shim the left side with some washers welded onto the stud but that would effectively shorten the amount of threads poking through the track hole. Would this be a safety concern?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

My experience....I installed 72 seats and tracks in my factory bucket seat 69 malibu and had the same result. Nothing drastic but noticeable. Maybe the seat tracks differ slightly in height between the 68-72s, not sure.

Could you post a picture of the slides? They should be the same height.

Hey Dan. Sorry I must have been posting at the same time you did. Yes I will go and snap a couple f pics. It would be intersting to see if anyone recognizes these seats.

Here are the pics of the drivers side seats. The brackets are really hard to tell if one is taller than the other. I stuck the seat back in and put a level across the front to legs and it shows level but I swear the seat is leaning to the left! I am wondering now if maybe the frame is wore out???


Also can anyone ID these seats??

it alsmost looks like the seat brackets are differnt heights but hard to tell from the pics.

Broken seat springs. When you get the covering off it may be obvious.

Yeah it is almost an optical illusion scenario. One minute they look alike and the next minute the inboard one looks longer.... But the level across the front 2 legs says they are level

LOL well at 255 I ain't small... But it does look like a big fella has been getting in and out of it for years.

Yep I am starting to think frame or springs. Can you replace just the springs????

The pre-formed/bent "side support" springs are available, and the ones in that seat are definitely broken. Just looking at it though I'm guessing there are more broken than just the side support springs. In my searches didn't see anything other than the side support springs.
