I wouldn't let the opinion of 50 guys who didn't buy the wheels in the first place sway you.
They are your wheels right, you either like them or you don't! your 65 in most younger crowds might be considered outdated also but I don't think you listen to them.

I Luv the old style and have SS's on my Rag top and D's on my el-Camino.. Was looking at the new weld Racing SS and a local guy replaces Ho Cragars SS wit hthe over the winter....
The look is NOT the same IMO.. a duller polish hue a softer radi and l longer spoke ..
Hey Must be my AGE ... Gragers Are TIMELSS

except on RICERS

I agree the Cragar SS is timeless! I've had many sizes on my 72 and 70 SS Chevelle and loved them. I am thinking of switching over to the Forged Cragar SS Wheel which is being distributed by Weld/Licensed by Cragar. I recently ordered and received two SS wheels for the front, 17" x 8" and I have to agree with WayneK, My first impression when opening the box is that the finish is not as shiney as the original Steel/Aluminum Cragar SS. Mostly because Chrome on the original SS is going to shine much more than polished aluminum. But what really concerned me was that I could see the polishing marks across the spokes as though the polisher did not finish the process! It wasn't rough, just enough to see in the sunlight. Anyway, I had to return them because one wheel was out of center with the hub. Then I found out that there is going to be a change in the wheel (which I never found out exactly what was changing) but it was being redesigned or something (told that by the Summit Rep) and I may not be able to get rear wheels to match the fronts. I have to call Summit back and see if the "design change" is now available and order them again. Beware they are expensive, afterall they are 6061 forged aluminum and will run around $330 or so a piece for a 17" wheel.
Getting back to the original subject, I do love the look and style and will probably give the forged wheels another chance. The forged wheel is much lighter than the Steel/Aluminum SS and much stronger. Otherwise I still have the 16" x 8" Cragar wheels with 255 50's mounted on them just hanging around the garage!
I say keep the Cragar look!

just had to chime in on this one, cragers will never be outdated, the best never are ! I have 14 inch SST's and will never get rid of them. as long as you like something it is never outdated no matter what anybody else tells you.

I used to have a gloss black VW Beetle, limo tint windows and a set of Cragars (using VW-to-GM wheel adapters). For a bug, those wheels made the car look mean! Ah heck, they MADE the car!

joeyt. not to morph from the thread.. I painted a 66 split window VW Cortez silver in the early 70's the guy had black spoked ET wheels and the gm to vw addaptors. it was a wild modified VW engine and in a 1/2 block only a few fast moter cycles were abel to beat it on the street.
in the "SHORT" 1/6 mi burst..
my 454 in my 56, got dusted a few times..
that's TILL I got about rady to slam 3rd gear, then he was TOAST :D

I had exactly the same problem you do.
I went with the 15" Crager and a 275/60/15 BFG in the back. Largest/widest tire I could find that would clear the ww with the Crager backspacing ( 4.25 inch. )

I thought about taking the 10" wide and cutting the center out and re-welding it to 5.25 backspace. That would allow a much wider/taller tire.
