Sorry about the sort story
Ok last week I was on vaction and I had list of things to do to my elcamino. The main thing was to go though front and rear suspension as I have never touched it in the 15 years I have had the car. I trailered the car an hour away to shop that builds circle track cars and got the car weighed so I could order springs front end weight was 1026 on drivers front and 1028 on pass. front and a total 2054. I got the car home and got the ride height of spring with it seting on the ground it was 11 3/4 it set alittle high so when I called Santhuff I asked if we could go with 11" and told them the front end weight they did the math he said I need a 209 lb spring and he would send me the 200 lb spings. I though this would work out good becasue I had plans for glass hood and bumper so some weight would be coming off the front anyways. I went ahead and put the UMI rear suspension on while I was wating on the springs. When I finished the rear I took front apart and put the new control arm bushing in and Afco low friction ball joints. I got the springs on friday and got them in and put front end all back together I let the car down off the lift and the front end just kept coming down until the tire was well up into the front fender. I walked around and looked at front end the springs where all but coil binded and when my 170lbs leaned on it the suspension went ahead and bottomed out. I got the tape back out and checked the spring ride height I stoped there and called santhuff to see what they had to say. They were not sure what was going on he did the math and said with the ride height and what springs I had it was like they were seeing 1,200 lbs per spring. They ended up sending me 225lb springs to try. I hope they were not labeled wrong and these springs are going to set stiff and have the front end up in the air. What do you guys thank and has anyone else seen this?
