[quoteI'm thinking for my application the McLeod will be more than adequate. The $2700 vs $5000 + pricetag comes into play as well. ][/quote]

Yes, price is a big factor. if the McLeod Trans fits within your TQ/HP rating then your ok. Myself not me, so i had to go with the Legend. I'm only buying one time. Jim

For those asking about the floor pan fit. This is how my LGT700 fit my original floors. The console hump was replaced but everything else is oem. I did trim sightly around the trans just to make sure there was no metal to metal contact.

There is a new "mini ball buster" shifter for the S04 Legend700 since Jon has purchased his unit. I have been requesting this smaller diameter shifter from Legend Gear & Transmission and it is finally a part of every new S04 1968-1972 Chevelle unit.

LGT original Ball Buster Shifter was 3" in diameter

LGT Mini-Ball Buster Shifter is 2.5" diameter

The console sheet metal slot like the one Jon is using on his Chevelle measures 2-3/4". The new Mini-Ball Buster shifter and S04 unit is a no tunnel cut installation.

OK . The shifter location ....... Are you able to use the stock 4 speed console location
1964/65 ???
Hey Wayne, I hope you are doing well?!

There is a Legend700 model like the one "Vintage Musclecar" Eric used to install into the 1964-1967 Chevelle without cutting your tunnel.

The McLeod M5 shifter is located on center at 18.5". There are move over shifter setups, but you will be cutting the tunnel using the McLeod M5 for any 1964-1967 Chevelle install.

1st through 5th Legend700 ratios:

2.66:1, 1.78:1, 1.30:1, 1.00:1, & .69:1

An optional .80:1 OD should be available after September 2015.
2.66 is a lot better than what I read earlier. That would give me a 10.906 final drive ratio in first which is liveable. And a .69 would give me a final of 2.829 which would be very helpful.

But of course the Legend costs a lot more. Would probably be cheaper to change my rear gears and go with a less expensive transmission.

Ho Jody

All's well for me ,, hope you end is going as planed..... got the new Chevelle on the road last week and the 3:73 on the Muncie on Fleetwood Topton road got me spinning up there as I pass the two Barto Exits :) From Larry Days place.

Wayne
In my younger days, I did many full throttle blasts on that road!
