GEEZ guys, no comments, info or words of wisdom?

Dan i cant help you on the fit but boy will you be surprised when you install the headers and then hammer it for the 1st time as long as you have good breathing mandrell bent 2.5" pipes and good flowing mufflers behind the headers.

I have experienced that 1st hand a few times over the yrs when installing headers on other peoples cars with mild bbc's like yours, the seat of the pants/BUTTOMETER goes full tilt after the headers are installed, usually a very nice increase in perf (HP/TRQ) esp with a perf camlike your voodoo.

Let us know how much difference you notice in before and after perf esp if the car see's the strip before and after the header install with all else being the same.

The only reason i never installed haders on my 69 is because i know it will increase the perf/feel considerably stronger and then i will be tempted to get on it more with the new found power form the headers and i cant afford to break the #'s matching motor/trans etc so i am leaving well enough alone. I figured if i am going through the expence and time to install headers then i want to feel like i can use that benefit from the better breathing exhaust and if i am just going to be hesitant to get on it more due to being concerned about breakin the #'s mathcing motor/trans etc i am better off leaving it alone with the stock ex manifolds which is the way i have approached it the 30+ yrs i have owned the car.

BOOM trigger has been pulled!

Just inspect them carefully when you get them.

I had to send two pairs of those back due to chips, dings and scratches down to the metal. I gave up and will have my $89 Summits coated by Jet Hot.

J$%gs wouldn't refund my over $20 in return shipping, good thing you bought them from Summit.

Hope they arrive in great condition, they will fit and you will notice a big difference in power..

Bam! The go-fast bug infecting the NW has now claimed an honorary member in CT as a victim!

is there a non-Saginaw steering box for a 72 Chevelle? What are these guys talking about? Maybe they mean on that ultra-rare rear-steer Chevelle. :) ;)

Same exact headers I run on my '69. Steering box is no-where even close. These will install without touching the motor mounts. Driver side-remove the oil filter and Oil Pressure sending unit. Hold header in place with end bolts (loosely) and reinstall sending unit. Passenger side-remove the starter, set header in place and hold with two end bolts so that header will swing freely, reinstall starter, then finish tightening installing/tightening the header bolts.

thanxs for the install tips!

Some earlier power steering systems use a weird high pressure hose that put it close to the header pipe. With a '72, I don't think that will be the case in your situation. They fit great on my '65 chassis (I used later model power steering hoses).

Great, Thanx Rich thats kinda what I wanted to hear.:)

Guys the Saginaw issue is only a concern if the headers are going into a Camaro or Firebird. Camaro's have the steering box mounted behind the crossmember, Our Chevelles have the box in front of it so there is no issue for header fit.
The Saginaw boxes have a big "S" cast into the top adjuster plate. The Saginaw boxes are wider than the standard box and cause clearance issues, I had to clearance a set on my Brother in laws 69 Camaro with a 454.
Hope this helps.

good pick... stay away from the $90 summits (or the similar flowtechs)... the pass. side wouldnt clear the crossmember on my 67 and one tube needed to be 'adjusted' by about an inch!! i'm sure they fit a camaro just fine... wish someone could have told me that, cause i would have spent the $50 more for the hedmans....

i cant believe you are JUST buying headers now. wow i thought u had them already for sure. good luck.
I guess I was being too hung up on the car being all #s matching
but since I have: an aftermarket,Cam,Carb,Intake, exhaust & now an aluminum rad & water pump I guess headers wont hurt now.

besides, multiple sources tell me I'm leaving 40+ hp/tq on the table

I will keep the original manifolds incase I need to go back to orig.
