For you guys near the Kansas City area----------------------IF EVERYTHING COMES TOGETHER FOR US----------------A we have been invited to bring the A26 to the WINGS OVER WHITEMAN airshow July 13-14.
The whole thing is predicated on our pilot being available (looks good so far). They are going to pay us an arrival fee (FINALLY we can cover some expenses), furnish round trip gas (700-800gal 100LL) and put our crew up for 2 nights.
If it all comes together for us, this will be our FIRST REAL show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn, I'm excited!
So, anyone who can make it, come say hi.

Just remember . . . don't cross the red lines around the Whiteman parking area, especially near one of their aircraft. Those lines mean something and they have teenagers with fully automatic weapons on that base to enforce that meaning. I still work at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana on the flight line . . . same kind of business, same kinds of equipment, different but same mentality teenagers.

That Knob Noster, Missouri concrete also probably doesn't taste any better than the Louisiana concrete.

Rick

Congratulations! Wish you were closer! And I second that recommendation on the Air Force flightline red line info. However, if you are the only hope of restoring power to their control tower, they can be quite lenient. Dont ask how I know this....

BAD NEWS. LIGHTENING STRIKES AGAIN!!!!!!!!
While we were at the hanger yesterday and running the engines, Jim, our group leader, got an email from the Public Affairs Officer, telling us that the base commander said there was not enough funds available to cover our expenses.
SOOOOOOOO, maybe better luck next time!!!

Was stationed there for the B-2 program during SATAF operations. Nice area….

Frank

Nice, I was in the SATAF until I retired in 1990. Old grey converted barracks. I lived over in Warrensburg. I crawled all over the first aircraft at Pico Revera and Edwards.

Sorry you are not going to get to go Tom.

I live right close to the shoreline of Lake Ontario and occasionally hear and then see the odd warbird. Two day's ago I hear a multiple-radial engined plane flying near the shore. I didn't see it but it sounded big, like a Superfortress. They were nursing it and I was concerned that they were throttled back so much they might stall. It actually did happen back in 1995, I heard a plane go past near stall speed. After I watched it fly past towards the CNE I was witnessing it's final minutes. At the CNE it stalled & crashed.
