I have used R12a as a test in both my 68 Chevelle and 71 Camaro and was planning to change to R12 once the system held pressure for a few months. With R1234 replacing R134A soon I didn't think that was the way to go. However the R12A works so well I am just going to keep using it. Although it can be a fire hazard Canada and Germany have been using it for years and it is not any more flammable the R1234 with oil. It has much lower head pressure, blows colder then either R12 or R134 and much cheaper. When the compressor engages the RPM drop is less due to the head pressure being lower. It uses both oil types and very easy to switch to either refrigerant. I set my system for R12 if and when I go that route but you can also set it for R134 and go that route if you prefer as well. Very flexible and cheap. As far as the molded tube it depends on the year. The 70 and up is different then 68/69. Mine was in good shape but I know you can get either on Ebay

Not familiar with R1234.Where is it available please? Is it compatible with R12 POA or will it require recalibration? Are you using or eliminating POA?Sounds like R1234 is way to go.
Will check eBay for tube.Mine is split.
Thank you again

It is not R1234, that is the refrigerant that new cars are using today and is replacing R134A. I have no idea what is compatible with that or if the system can be modified to use it. Maybe someone can speak up. I am using R12a however no one is using that name because it is illegal in the USA to mix with either R12 or R134 but there is no law against using it by itself. Check your state and local laws. Here is a link to what I used ZeroR® Universal AC Refrigerant (6) 6oz Cans (16oz R134a Replacement) Made in... | eBay. What year is your car?

Car is 71.Do you know correct term for blower tube?Unable to locate one for GM car so far.Are you using POA?Thank you for refrigerant link.
I am using my system as designed for R12. I changed everything including the hoses, condenser, evaporator, bought a refurbed POA set for R12, dryer and other small items. I am not one to try and save a buck for problems to show up later not to mention R12 is very expensive if I even go that route. Here is a link to a similar tube that may be correct. I know yours is much shorter then my 68 and I can't see the one on my 71 Camaro. I have no idea if this link is correct for you but you can visually compare.
