Hello again, I was looking at some pictures tonight of SS and non SS chevelles and I notticed that the non SS Chevelles had a much larger AC/heater core protruding into the engine bay where was the SS Chevelle has a much smaller compact one that only stuck out from the firewall about 3 inches into the engine bay.. Does AC/heatercore size determine engine size?

Cause on my Chevelle I have the small recessed one that doesnt stick out too much but according to my build sheet, the car was a 307 originally, but according to the seller this car was changed at the dealership from a sbc to a bbc. My chevelle has always confused me because its past is so hard to tack down and actually know what it went through. Im the 3rd owner of this car.

Thanks guys

Is it possible that it has an aftermarket a/c system in it? Or maybe someone converted it to an a/c car. I did that to mine with parts from a Monte. Could be some knuckle head like me did that to yours with a/c from who knows what. As far as I know and have seen they are all about the same. But then again I don't know much

You can't tell on Chevelles. You can tell on Camaros and Corvettes,by where the heat core inlet/outlets are,but again, not on a 'velle.

There you have it...buildsheet says an original 307 car.

Could it be that you are looking at cars with and without A/C? the non a/c cars had different heater boxes than the a/c cars.

Its possible that its a non a/c car but it came with the A/C compressor mounted on the engine but not hooked up. Go figure :p
