Hey guys, one of the latches on the back of my bench seat is broken off. You have stick your finger in the slot (insert joke here) to manipulate the lever in order to get the seat to fold forward. I've tried searching all of the parts distributors and I can't find anyone that even lists this hardware. I tried searching here and even just googling it. No results that really get me pointed in the right direction. Maybe I'm just not using the right search term. Does anyone know who might sell that lever/hardware? I'm able to find plenty of knobs, but no levers. I'm gearing up to recover my seat and just trying to do my research and have all the parts I need before I start tearing things apart. Thanks in advance!

Try CL or eBay for a complete junk bench seat. You should be able to buy one for $50-75. Take off the parts you need, sell the rest. You will probably come out ahead. 1970-72 bench seats should be the same for all A-body cars (Chevelle, Cutlass, LeMans, Skylark, etc). 1968-69 might also have the same lever you need.

Others on this site will correct me if I'm wrong......:)

Here is a picture of what you need- the lever arm is circled in red. Its the same on GM bench seats all the way into the 80's.

You will have to remove the knob handle (allen wrench) and the little chrome bezel, and you may need to have a box knife to cut back the vinyl enough to be able to see it/reach it with a screwdriver.

As you can imagine, it would not be rocket science to fab this up- its just a piece of steel bent into an L shape with a hole in it for the screw & lock washer to attach it to the rest of the latch.

Find someone with a junk bench seat, they will likely let you have it for free, or get a piece of scrap steel and bend it in a vice & drill a hole.
