i used one of the 700 lock-up plans found on this site, using a factory vacume/electric switch and delay valve plumbed into the ven. vacume. this setup does not work well as the converter will lock in 1 or 2 and kill the car. I used a b/m kit many years ago that used a pressure switch screwed into a pressure port on pass side of case
so the lock-up would only occur in certain gears.
anybody know of this setup and where I might get just a pressure switch or any better idea's
Thanks, Rob....

I use the B&M Speed Control, and I love it. It's not a pressure switch, it's speed sensitive. Splices into the speedo cable, and you can adjsut it to lock up the converter at what ever speed you want.

I know that the pressure switch is available at the dealer, but I don't know the part number. I'm sure if you can find a good counter guy, he'd be able to help you.

You might also try a transmission shop. I'm sure they've had to replace pressure switches in these things. They may be kind enough to tell you who they buy from locally.

in my chevelle I used a brake lite switch, and a toggle switch to control lock up. What i used is a stop lite switch out of a 78 corvette, with cruise control. i found a 12v source with the key on, and put power to the cruise side of this switch. then on the other side of the switch i installed a toggle switch. this way with the toggle switch on the converetr will lock up automatically. with the toggle switch off it will not lock up at all. kind of makes the trans feel like a 5 speed. helps you not feel that lugging when driving 30 - 50 mph.
hope this helps.

You might try a 87 p/u. You want a normally open switch.

ScrogginDickey has the switch p/n on there site somewhere. SDPC2000.com

Check Bowtie overdrives for the different wiring setups. BTO

Your supposed to put it in the 4th gear port on the valve body inside the trans. The older cases have a port on the outside which was used for diagnosis. Don't recall if 4th is out there.
You need to verify the wiring because it shouldn't lock in 1st.

Cparman -- You wouldn't happen to have a write up on the wiring you did for your 700 would you? I am installing a 700 into my 72 and am also in need of the lockup wiring that you mention. I have seen another car that used the brake switch but did not get any info as to the "whys" and "hows". Thanks for your help.
