67 shifter question

Does anyone know if the factory 4 speed shifter mounts directly to the tail housing on the muncie? or is there a spacer/bracket that I'm missing? It looks like, in the assembly manual, the shifter bolts right on. I made a 1/2" spacer that works. Without it though, The shifter doesn't line up with the linkage or the console.
If there is a mounting block, does anyone happen to have a picture so I can see what I should be looking for? or if I'm lucky...a part number?
Thanks in advance for the info

you are right the muncie did not mount to the trans and for this reason alot were tossed in the day because they would bind when you got on it and the trans twisted

On your '67 the muncie shifter[gate] mounts directly to the trans.

I cant recollect one...? But Rusty, man, do yourself a favor, strongly consider a Comp Plus. You can do a "graft" of your shifter onto the Hurst shifter to retain an original look ( although I DONT LIKE power shifting with that shifter ). And I bought a used one for $70. But thats not what you asked.

Again, dont remember a spacer, I'll check my Muncie parts pile tomorrow. I know the Hurst does, but I dont remember one when I took the Muncie off. Sure it aint backwards or something.

Benz, the later ones did indeed bolt to the trans crossmember. But I tossed my Muncie gate becuase its a friggin piece of scrap iron ( hardened to boot!). A CompPlus isnt a race shifter( it has long throws), but it feels like it compared to the Muncie.

Rusty, I think the powershifting gods are intervening here - use a Hurst.
