OK, I've researched the h3ll out of this NOM and came up empty. My 454 pad stamp (behind the waterpump) has: "TL1 xxZ8" stamped on it. The back driver's side below the head says "14012442", unless I'm reading it backwards with a mirror, then "24421041". I can't determine what or where this lump came from, other than a truck block, I guess. Any ideas anyone??? Thanks!

Recheck your casting number David.
The 14012442 appears to be a bumper guard for a 1980 car.
Might be 14015445 which is a 78-90 454 block.
Reread and post the whole number sequence behind the w/p as the TL1 xxZ8 isn't right either.
Part of that sequence resembles a Mercruiser number and some from a light truck.

Mike- you're oh so right about the 140... number! I was reading it with a small mirror- backwards AND upside down! LOL! So we are in agreement with that. The front # behind the W/P is very plainly stamped "TL1 xxZ8", and looks to be original, So I don't know what to make of it.

My 454 ends in 445, mines out of an 86 RV, flat top pistons with about a 2" round dish that's an 1/8" deep, low comp motor, I used diff heads to bump comp up
