396 vs 454 value, all else equal

OK, this is a weird one. Last year I purchased a 1972 Chevelle from an out of state dealership specializing in classic cars. The dealership advertised the car as having a 454. Prior to purchasing I had the car appraised by a professional appraiser. His report indicates the engine is a 454, but notes that it's a 1969 block. Fast forward to today when I need to order some internal parts, so I figure I ought to double check the casting number to ensure I should order 1969 parts. The casting number is 3955272 and everything I find indicates that's a 1969 2 bolt main 396, not a 454. Is there any difference in value between the two engines? If all else is equal I'm Ok with a 396, despite both dealer and the appraiser making what I'd call a pretty big goof. Is there any appropriate recourse here or do I just chalk this up to the hazards of buying a car you haven't personally inspected? Any thoughts?
