I recently began a valve adjustment and I pulled the 1# plug. Once I felt air i i looked at the marking on the Harmonic Balancer and it was in the 9-10 O'Clock position. I am wondering if the balancer could have been installed wrong from the previous owner. The #6 cylinder does the same thing. I dont want to tear the motor apart, but I want to ensure I am doing it right. Is there a way of finding TDC for #1 w/o using the marking on the balancer??
I realized everything was off when I adjusted them according to the Balancer and it backfired through the carb.
