My other concern is that my Distributor rotor is in the wrong location.

When the TDC marking on balancer is at 0 the Distributor rotor is a little past the 8th cylinder marking on distributor cap

If you haven't already moved the distributor don't move it.

If you haven't moved the distributor you will be back where you started, it should run like it did before.
sounds like a points distributor, iirc they show about 1 lug of lead in a static state but I haven't stabbed one in a long time.

x2 what Tom said. troubleshooting 101,,,,,what did you mess with? FIX IT and don't screw with other stuff...
