Fellas,

I've got a vibration/grinding noise coming from my TB SS when it's cold and I'm making a left or right turn at low speed (5-10mph), like when pulling out of a parking spot or turning at a stop sign. The "noise" seems to be coming from the front of the vehicle, but it's hard to tell. Once the it warms up to operating temperatures the issue goes away.

7,200 miles, AWD, only driven by me, and it's never been driven hard or abused. Only thing ever done to it is oil, filter, and air filter changes. Noise started around 5,500 miles or so and seems to be getting more pronounced- as in more frequent. It lasts for about 1/2 a second before it quits. It happens again if I make another turn, until it's warmed up. I've considered wheel bearings and I've read it could be the radiator fan or ever the exhaust heat shield?

I've got over 2 years left on the warranty.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any thoughts!

maybe a wheel bearing that's a little loose when it's cold but tightens up after things get up to temp? the noise could be a caliper bracket rubbing on the rotor.
pull off the front wheels and see if you can see any evidence of anything rubbing.. and then take it to the dealer and let them fix it..

The wheel bearings in my TBSS went out at very low mileage, and did very much what you are saying also. I wouldnt waste another minute thinking about it though, its under warranty, let the GM techs deal with it.

can you switch it out of AWD, i know the earlier ones would make noise if not in snow or something that would let the tires not fight each other
No, AWD is always on, on any vehicle. If it can be turned on and off it is 4wd, not AWD

You're right, I think this is what I should do.

I was hoping (kind of) that someone else here had maybe experienced the same thing, or something similar, and had dealt with it already.

I've had problems in other cars in the past and took them in as soon as the issue started. Most of the time I got the, "We can't replicate the problem." response from the dealership. This time I decided to wait on it until it was obvious, even to someone not attuned to the car and its particulars.

Thanks for the responses guys.

if you pull a wheel and see obvious signs that the rotor is hitting a caliper bracket or something like that, then you can take it to the dealer, wait for them to tell you "we can't replicate the problem", and then tell them to put it on the lift and yank the front wheels so you can point the problem area out to them.

sadly, sometimes you have to hold their hand and show them how to do their job...

I've heard of a few with the differentials going bad.I'm the original owner of mine and it now only has 11,7xx miles, and it had a leaking front diff,1st time at about 6k miles and I had it in the shop 3 times before they fixed it right, luckily it was all under warranty.
