Hey all,

i've been searching to find other threads, but i haven't found anything. Probably because i'm not using the correct english terms.

I've had my Chevelle at the shop and they installed a CK 200-4R trans and my new rear axle gears. I trusted them when they said the TV cable is set up properly (He said it is fully extended @ WOT) and drove it home. Unluckily they didn't do it like they were supposed to. I only noticed all this on the next day in daylight. They didn't use the carb brackets and geometry correction adapter, which i had provided for that. Found them in the trunk. They obviously didn't know they have to be used. Anyways i now installed all the parts and set up TV cable as good as i could, but i have yet to call Chris to verify. I am not driving it until then.

Now what i have noticed, the trans is making a humming noise and slight vibration in R and manual low gears. Everything fine in Drive. Did they wreck my trans? Fluid was a bit low and noise is almost gone after i filled it up a bit, but i'm still frightened that the trans has been harmed.

Thanks,
Olli

Trans being low on fluid can create a noise . Manual low and reverse require more line pressure which could make the low fluid situation likely. Its ok to drive it to check your cable adjustment ....just take it easy on the gas petal until you get it right.

I do have a 2800 converter, does that make that much difference? Also with the cam i have i'm be afraid to lower the idle even more. But it's worth checking. Thanks for your help!

Has to be something else. Can't lower idle much more without it stalling, it also didn't change anything. Any more ideas?

Hard hit when you put it in gear is probably from the way it was built for performance. When it was used is a passenger cruiser, a wavy spring plate is used in the foward clutch drum to cushion the engagement. For HP use , that wavy plate is not used .
Maybe very very badly adjusted cable could increase trans pressure enough to affect engage feel ?
