KC SS car. Too late to be a L78 so assuming the tach is original it's very possibly a LS6 car. It's time to do some investigating if I were you.

Thanks Daron, I also entered in the tag info on the Data Tag Decoder site and got the same info!
The wheels on it are not that impressive! Front has whet looks to be aftermarket aluminum mags
and the rear has plain steel rims, maybe just put on for storage. I have not popped the trunk yet
because it has been converted to a power lock system and had no battery. I hope some of the missing
items are in it like the carb, and aircleaner. Maybe a rim or two!

The door buttons may be on the mirrors or under the door itself below the rocker panel area, that's where my dad had his on a 49 ford, you'll need to put a good battery in it because they're electric, hopefully still working, that is truly a cool car with a I'm hoping a real cool mag/racing history behind it, and like said I wouldn't change a thing but make it safe to drive and drive it ALOT!

welcome aboard ! that is one awesome timepiece ! i would also only fix what needs to be ! i would not change or add anything without research to make sure the right decisions are made prior to any work performed ! this site has so much valuable info and lots of members with extensive knowledge  as stated need to take lots of pics engine bay , running gear etc... find the numbers on the engine block stamps , trans stamps , rearend stamps etc... is that a ss wheel i see in front of the car against the wall ? if it is it is date coded also !

Blood sweat and tears. Wasn't that a chevy ad song back in the day? You may be able to google her dads name to see if there are any old hotrod magazine articles on the car. Do they have any pics from back then? You could find out what kind of wheels it had and get a set. Find out why it was parked before you try and turn it over. You could have a very valuable engine under that hood.

I would love to have that street machine paint job on my car. please if you get it dont change anything. just some original centerlines or cragars and go through the mechanicals. that is a cool ass car.

Awesome car, probably worth more left untouched since that is hard to find now in days. Super nice shape and yes, the L code had been more known to be the SS from Kansas then not. You have one of the SS wheels in front of the car if you find more that is what they looked like. Great find and welcome to the site.

Thanks everyone for all the positive feedback, Makes me feel better about keeping the paint job the way it is! That is her plan!
The electric switch for the doors are mounted on the inside edge of the door facing the jam. There are pockets in the
quarter panel that gives you access to the switch and to allow you to open the door. if you look closely to the passenger
side photo, because the door is not shut all the way, you can see the little dot that is the button/switch.
The trunk has a electric key switch mounted next to the gas filler tube that you can access when you
swing the license plate bracket down. I did not have a jump box with me so I could not try them.
Also, when asked, the guy who lives there said that the wheels were not from the car, they were just some junk
tires of his. He worked at Ford his whole life so if they are GM, then most likely they came over with the car.
Either way I am sure he would love for me to take it off his hands.
I am hoping to get it over to our house in 2 to 3 weeks. A lot of questions will be answered then I hope!!!!

Hell yeah dude. Definitely keep us posted.

Definitetly leave it just like it is.
I would say it needs to come to Rosemont in November just like it sets!

When I got it in my possession I would go over it with a fine tooth comb preferably with someone who knows what they are looking at. Being a Leeds built car the odds are good you would find a build sheet hiding somewhere in the car. My first place I would look is under the back seat. I know the covers have been replaced but I have seen numerous times where the build sheet is still in place even after being recovered. Since the car has been dormant for so long I would bet money there is one in there some where. Stuck to the inside of the front fenders, under the dash pad on top of the glove box, etc. Like I said being a Leeds car odds are good. I have a friend who found six sheets in his KC car.
Fuel line, rear end code, block stamp and trans stamp can tell you a lot about the car.

I have a good feeling about this car. I predict it has the original motor, trans ,rear and a build sheet is found!

Would love to see it in person.
