Tire rack is virtually unbeatable EXCEPT that Discount tire will price match. Just print out the Tire Rack price and take it to them.

summit and jegs still have free shipping on tires, but you pay a no-box fee and the handlling fee. ends up cheaper than tire rack.

I usually shop around on the Internet, then I go to a local dealer with the prices and tell them what I'm willing to pay. Got a set of BFG T/A's from a local dealer a couple of weeks ago, and paid the same price as on the Internet. You will have to pay tax (no shipping though), but it makes it easier to resolve possible warranty issues. I was also able to trade in my old tires, so I got the whole set, mounted and balanced, for $180.

I have bought several sets from Tirerack, and bought my Dragradials from Sears. They were cheaper than Summit or Jegs and I didn't have to pay shipping

I've used TireRack.com two times and been happy with both transactions. Their shipping is very reasonable and you'll save the sales tax that a local dealer would charge. Local dealers have the advantage of not charging you for shipping but the lower price at TireRack has always beat the difference for me. Just remember to check on the price of mounting locally before you purchase online. The local tire stores I've dealt with charge a pretty hefty price for mounting tires purchased from someone else.

I've looked at tire rack plenty of times. Never purchased. After I add up cost of shipping, mounting and a lifetime of balancing, tire rack (in the long run) costs way more than buying local. I do as Denny does and find someone to match price and then it includes lifetime balance and rotation. Unless you know someone that will balance for you for free, that 5-10 bucks or higher per tire, over the lifetime of the tire, negates (for me anyway) the price of buying directly from tirerack. I mostly look at tire rack for reviews from customers, choose my tire, and have someone local match the price.

Usually Les Schwab, Americas tire company.

Costco, believe it or not, has beaten tire racks price a few times for me.

I just had a local Tires Plus match Tire Rack's price.
