Ron. 3600lbs with you sounds about right. It doesn't seem like much but I bet Bobs is close to 200lbs more. That equates to at least a tenth if not more.

However, you have a bad arse car. I love it and in no way am putting it down. I also would have never guessed 3600lbs. In stock trim, they are listed as weighing around 3200 or so with a big block. I would assume you have tons of aluminum stuff on such as heads, water pump, etc. I would have thought yours would be more like 3400 with you in it. Where is your weight coming from. Surely you don't still have original wheels and stuff on it?

The cage and subframe connectors and caltracs all add weight. I can see 3600 with a heavy driver.

I wonder what bobs car weighs though. I just like the fact that the rr is 270cc which is great for the street and the fact that exhaust is in the stock location.

I think I was just called fat......

And the Brodix certainly is a good piece and flows well for its size....no question about it.-Tony
Tony, I pay close attention to your posts, no doubt you deliver a top-shelf cylinder head and provide a great deal of honest, viable information.
It does the industry and it's followers good to see a leading manufacturer like yourself acknowledge the quality of your competition's product. :beers: to you.

Update! 9:1 540" with a 4150 carb and a .660" roller picked up 70 hp with the head and intake porting. Made 650 before and now hits 720 on the Stuska. I dont know much else about it. The engine builder filled me in real quick today. It's driven almost daily in the summer and is pretty tame on the street.

It was a before/after test. The porting was the only change.

what does your nova weigh? I weighed mine with an all iron bbc and a 16 gallons of gas, steel wheels, and it weighed in at 3249 Without driver. what does yours weigh?
My 69 nova is now 3020 W/O driver with an iron headed BB.

Wow,70 hp from porting !!!
Goes to show that theres more in the Race Rites than what meets the eye .Got any pictures or info that you'd care to share ?? Are those oval or rectangular port ??

I think the porting is great because he has a 540. I am not sure but I would think mine wouldn't pick up anything with porting. You would have to think I have reached near the max with those heads. Mine has never been dynoed but I would think mine has to be around 650 horses or so. I don't run anything fancy. I run an alternator, electric fan (single) aluminum water pump, mechanical fuel pump.

I would like someone to chime in on the porting. Did he pick up so much because of the larger motor? Would I pick anything up with porting?

Ported Race Rites make an easy 800 HP on a 500 inch big block with 12.8 compression and a 270 @ .050 cam with a 4150 style carb. Ported Race Rites can flow 380 cfm @ 28 inches on the good port. Real world drag testing on an engine like this is easy 9.30s foot braking with drag radials @ 3200 pounds.

The engine size makes no difference except in what may be done size wise to the heads
The head you have is a very good out of the box head but,,,
There is no question you should pick up big time having the heads pro ported
You should give Mike, Chad or one of the other cylinder head pro's that drop in on occasion to give us the benifit of their experience & answer questions a call & talk to them ;)
I do not think you would be dissappointed
I have sent many folks Mike's way & have yet to have one I know of that was unhappy

Okay, boy does that put me in a predictiment. Hmmm. I promised no more parts buying but I am not sure that classifies as "parts". If this is the case then I may pull mine this winter and get them done. Which Mike and Chad are you referring too?

I have the 496 13.1 compression on E85. My cam is a 260/270 cam. However, it weighs a little more but I definitely want a 9 sec car on the pump gas without the nitrous. So Mark I guess you agree with Mike that my car would be a perfect match to get the heads "Pro ported?"

That would be Mike @ CFM above or Chad Speier, Speier Racing Heads

Of course if you could talk Mark into doing them,,,,, he has been known to make oval heads do strange things :D :D

Sorry Mike. I guess you are referring to the "MIKE" who did the test. I just checked out his website. So this winter if I was to get the heads done would I also be better off sending the Vic Jr. in with it?

Mike Stark is in Indianapolis, Indiana. Chad Speier ports heads in Hays, Kansas. Mark Jones is in Colorado Springs, Co. I'd say use whoever is closest to you. You might want to call whoever and discuss what you wish to accomplish, then go from their recommendations.
