Hi, I was just wondering because out of all my windows on my 65, the rear glass is the only one that has the soft ray tint on the back and all the rest are safety plate glasses. Could you have gotten an option like that? thank, Eric

The tinted glass came with all airconditioned car's and everyone else got the regular glass. If you don't have air then someone replaced it at some point. If you do have air, then where's the rest of the tinted glass
I believe tinted glass all-windows was a separate option back then that could be had without AC but was a mandatory option when the AC was ordered. I'm going by memory from my hobby of looking at new Chevy window stickers in the 60's and early 70's. A tinted windshield could be ordered separately (without AC) but no others like back glass. Your back glass or all side windows were probably replaced at some point.
I had a '66 el camino with AC and NON-tinted glass. I can't remember if the windsheild was tinted or not. Other than if it was vandalized at some point and all the glass was broke out, I couldn't imagine someone swapping from tinted to non-tinted, especially in New Mexico where the car came from. The car now belongs to "more ambition than brains". Maybe Karl will comment.
My 300 Deluxe has factory AC and had the A01 option listed below. I bet some one swapped out the rear because the only other option was just the windshield, of which I'm in need of.
Here's the two options the qty. supplied and the 65 cost.
A01 Soft Ray tinted glass(all windows) 53,604 $ 31.25
A02 Soft Ray tinted glass(windshield only) 147,435 19.95
