Wow, I guess if you misquote Dale you can authenticate your LS6 too?

Shoulda smeared a little more Vaseline on the camera lense- I could still identify that some of the pics were of a chevelle..

But it has a build sheet. The sum of all the other parts might represent a rusted out hulk, but as we know, when it comes to the Ls-6, the build sheet is the only thing that really counts when searching for that pot at the end of the rainbow.

He has A buildsheet from an LS6. The vin sequence is not on the portion he has. That buildsheet could be used with ANY 1970 chevelle 2 door that came from the factory with a V8. There is no way to prove that the buildsheet has anything to do with the rusted out hulk he is peddling. Dale even says in the email "the buildsheet is from an LS6"

Dale I agree that he is stretching your statements but in light of the trim tag rubbing shown that clearly show the body number and sequence numbers that match, that would be a valid buildsheet for that car provided of course it is attached and appears to be original and the body shell shows trace of 48 Forrest Green paint.

I guess you guys that are experts on this can see why it is so confusing to the average Chevelle Enthusiast.

What you are buying here, if someone does buy it, is a trim tag, a VIN number, and pieces of what appears to be an authentic Build Sheet, with enough numbers still on it to prove that it does belong to this car, hense making the car a true Factory Ls-6.

Considering the seller says that just about everything has to be replaced, if you could get what is there for under $10,000, would it be worth it. And, if a buyer did get the car, and spent upwards to $60,000 making it into a top notch restoration, could he recoup his 70 or so thousand at a later date. And, could he do it without everybody screaming that it really isn't a Factory Ls-6.

Or, is there just not enough there to work with?

Am I off on the $60,000 by too much?

No offense directed at your but I do not believe "$60k" and "top notch restoration" can be used in the same sentence especially on a car in this shape. I have been doing this for 34 years and am driving a 1999 For Ranger as my shop truck so I am not getting rich at this business and I think $60k is just a few thousand short, like at least $20k short of reality for a "top notch restoration". I guess it would depend on the definition of top notch. In answer to your recoup question..........no!

P.S. I love the letters of 'conformation'. They are in fact email responses but from whom? Anyone can write a letter and have it say whatever you want it to say but who actually wrote those responses. Anyone here know?

I am not trying to attack the owner of this car in any way, just pointing out some things that have been asked of me and/or comments made on line.

Rick, it just seems to me to be a cheap easy way to throw a well respected name at the car without the benifit of authorization or permission. The car seems to be what was an LS6 and the price seems decent. But unless I could get a real letter or authorization from you, Dave Birdwell, Dale, or Jim Brady, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. And the car is very local to me.

This stuff is cool to read about and the rare desireable cars are awesome to see...but in a way makes a guy ( me)a little bit glad that his car is just a Malibu that has Been made to resemble a real SS optioned car....so many crooks and such...takes the fun out of it. It's a shame all cars are not like the Canadians .

If the facts are correct and this body did hold a LS-6 engine Trans & Rear.
What is a rusty body such as this worth without the Org. LS-6-Tranny & rear worth?

I live in Ocala and looked at car last knight, there is not much left of whatever it used to be, front sway bar is wrong, for some reason owner says cowl was smashed but when they replaced cowl they put a ac firewall back in, rear end is gone, trunk pan rotted, quarters rotted, boxed trailing arms gone, upper reinforced arms gone, floors rotted, has new repop door shells, new cowl hood, frame looked ok, oh ya dash was ok but no tach dash, I guess you can say all the costly parts are missing. I still would like to buy it any just don't know what its worth in that kind of shape. The work does n't scare just the cost does.

Does it resemble the car in the first picture just Curious ????

Jim, I talked to the guy last night and let him know that if the car is what he said it was that I would be there high noon Sunday with cash.

I woke up this morning and put $10k cash in my front pocket and stewed about it all day. In my mind was a car with the dash intact, boxed arms, sway bar, two peice steering shaft, and he was going to put a rear in it Saturday so I can wuinch it on my trailer.

So I call the clown on my way home to let him know I am still serious and get him to text me his addy and fax me a copy of the title. Something in his voice just sounded shady so I asked him again, what is the overall condition. I let him know how my 70 Malibu 350 convt deal went in Clermont three years ago that easily could have ended in gunfire. Not driving four hours for a pice of ****. I needed a rebuildable core, at the very least.

He came clean that the tach dash was never in it. The right hand A pillar was replaced, the control arms are gone out back, and before the clown knew it was an LS6, he cut the cowl and tacked in an ac firewall. The steering shafty was missing. And it was rusted severely.

I'm out.

Was the trim tag removed from the originol firewall?

#29 ·
Why? I have read right here on Team Chevelle that you could in fact get an LS6 with air. Someone was even selling one and said he had proof it came from the factory that way..........

Damn, I need an attitude adjustment. ;)

So My question is was it ever the complete Blue car in the first picture ???? that car did look all that bad .
