Street racing is only legal in Oklahoma. And by OK street racing, I mean lots of rented sodium halide lights, an abandoned drag strip.

 

You mean kill stories as in what you've killed? or who? wtf is wrong with you?

 

Street racing kills innocent people and kill stories are mostly lies.

kill stories aren't allowed because everyone here always obeys all applicable traffic laws and drives with the utmost safety in mind at all times when driving their 500-1000 hp cars on the streets... we're not a bunch of burnout doing, street racing savages..

I had seen the terms where it says that illegal activities can be removed. I had also seen the posting reminders where it states that "Street racing and 'kill stories' had been removed." hat is why I asked. I completely understand not wanting this Chevelle community to have a bad name or to be thought of as "hooligans, street racers, law-breakers... ect". I just thought that it would be interesting to hear stories from back in the day and stuff like that.

 

well I can kind of understand that Matt, but like most things over time they seem to get to be a little more than they were. When I talk about back in the day that's pretty much limited to pre 1973 or so, before oil became a politically correct topic. It was different back then, for the most part (at least in SoCal where I lived at the time) it was even sort of tolerated. It wasn't as crowded, cars weren't as fast, a lot of times the cops would give you a pass if you weren't being a punk about it.

Now it's just different and street racing's time has passed. Too much can go wrong too fast and you have kids who have no idea what they're driving because they don't build them anymore..just buy them. That Street Outlaw thing on TV is a little entertaining but it's made for TV..like Andy said...lights...camera...action....notice they never talk about anything technical or about combo...just horsepower which seems to do nothing for most of them...plus most of them don't know how to wear a baseball cap correctly...

 

Great breakdown Davey. That show is entertaining, because it's entertainment. It's amazing the horsepower those Oklahoma guys claim to be putting down. Anyone know what they run in the 1/8th. The show makes it seem like the Texas mile. They have the mph on the show, but who can trust tv..

I wish they'd show the whole run in one shot, on the TV show. That'd be 100% better than a 1/2 minute long 1/8th mile run, lol.

At least they are using V8 engine sounds with their video now...last season they all sounded like Indy cars. :sad:

It seems most illegal activity gets deleted. Dean always deletes my marijuana references. Esp those when I talk about the obscene amount of marijuana I smoke. And when I buy my marijuana, how I smoke my marijuana, where I smoke my marijuana (never outside my home, never when the sun shines), etc..

But even that is gray. Stoners in office in Colorado made it legal to rock a full 28 grams. Cali has a bunch of slackers. Michigan was one of the original states to legalize it for medical use. I myself get really sad when it is dry out. And my phone gets used alot.

But if the powers that be put street racing right next to murder, rape, and bestiality, so be it. We all agreed to the same set of rules when we first signed up.

Slower than I thought but still really moving. My buddy goes 4.53 at barona in his bbc/nitrous camaro. I'll keep watching because it's the last show about cars on tv.

Personally, I hate the "back in the day" stories, because they are about 95% BS.

Example: I subscribe the the magazine Hemmings Muscle Machines. Every single original owner of the cars featured in this magazine claim that they "never lost a street race" back in the day. Even the ones with not-so-special cars like Chevelles with 396/325 or 396/350. Really? Because, by my math, every single race has one winner and one loser, so where are all the guys who never WON a single race?

Haha so true. As a youngster I lost most of them one ultra humilating my an older guy in a BB 3/4ton truck.


Most the guys that own these cars are half in the grave lucky if the car sees daylight to wash it.

One of those threads has quite a bit of reminiscing about how the "old days" were in my general area. Lots of cool stories from eastern L.A. county and northern Orange County. It's just cool to be able to visualize the areas where the stories (allegedly) took place.
