After a great weekend at Chevellabration, I deceided I need a set of Flowmasters on my 72 Big Block. Does anyone have the correct size or part number to a flowmaster muffler that will be a direct fit to the stock size mufflers. They show a couple different series mufflers (40,50,etc.) Want a cool, deep sound with the original look. Good to see everyone in Nashville and only @360 days till we can do it all again!

Go to the Flowmaster site, they have sound clips of the new Super 40. Sounds like a cherry bombed truck at the lake with it's exhaust under water. I wouldn't TAKE money to use them after hearing those clips. They may be awesome sounding on a different car or in person, so don't take my word for it.

Hey I just replaced the a set of 2 Chamber 40 Series Flows for the 3 Chamber Delta Flow 50 Series. The sound is still great, deep, and yes, still loud, though not as bad as the 40's

I hated the 40's in the end, good for a race car, but not for a street car that gets stuck in traffic. The 50's are still a bit too loud but most of my problem is the 3 inch Torque Tech exhaust I'm running. I added a cross over, a bit up from where the optimal (performance) place to install it was, but now have an annoying drone at at certain RPM (800 - 900 and @ 2100).

As I learned, everything impacts on other factors, best to talk to someone at a show, get there opinion.

I believe I replied in the bench race forum, however, I urge you to get the 40's. They are not that loud. Trust me on this one. Just so you are not running turn-downs underneath, you'll love them.

Went with a set of Flowmaster 50 Series Delta Flow's. I liked they are the 3 chambered, stainless and not as agressive and load as the 40's. If I don't like them, we'll try something else. Thanks for your all's input. We'll see, they go on next Thursday.

Well I don’t want to be a jerk but I agree with the other gentlemen that all flow master mufflers sound like it is going through a coffee can? Or if you get the right flow masters they are so loud that you might as well run straight pipes? The groups that I hang with we have tried just about every muffler out there and out of the 12 of us with muscles cars found that the Dynomax Super Turbo in a 3” flow threw sounds the best. They make my 67 chevelle with a 327 sound almost as good as my buddies 68 camaro 454. On top of this we all drag race and have found that they offer so little restriction that we leave them on when racing unless it’s a good air day and we dump them more for weight than restriction. Just thought I’d throw my 2 cents in.
If you need the part number just let me know
Thanks
