I have a modified 350 Chevy engine with Vortec heads and full roller valve train. I also am using a Aces TBI system. After the initial fire up and sub-sequent short term fire ups, I experienced a "run rich" situation to where the engine would eventually died. Off to the tuner who set things up better. He recommended I clean or replace the plugs. The plugs I originally installed are Autolite AP26. I pulled one for the number is it was very sooty. Recommendations here? Initial gap would be nice also.

Gap at .035, you may have to play with this a few thousands to find the sweet spot

Start at a mid heat range plug, you may have to go up or down a heat range or two depending on how the plug looks on inspection there are pictures that show you what a plug should look like after being ran

I suggest NGK V-Power plugs, Autolite Racing is good as well. I don't suggest iridium or platinum plugs. Just change them at 12k or yearly

This is the world of engine tuning.

My plugs for my aluminum heads, TrickFlow recommend a plug 1 heat range cooler than mid range. We will see when I fire her up

Good suggestions but I would like to warn you of the Vortec intake gasket issues.
They like to give out and you end up sucking oil into the intake runners and making blackened spark plugs.

Research that issue.
Friend of mine chased his tail with his vortec crate engine and I told him change the intake gaskets.
1500 miles on his engine and they were not sealing.
