I am getting ready to paint the underside of my chevelle and I am not sure what to use. My problem is the different surfaces I'm painting over. It's all clean but there is some bare metal, some small areas with very light surface rust that I'm having trouble getting to, and mostly what seems to be a very thin layer of paint(scuffed up). Any recommendations? Also, I don't have any paint equipment so I was wondering if there's something I can use that doesn't require any.

Thanks,
David.

use a product called POR15, you can brush the stuff on and it drys smooth as if you had a professional spray it on, it comes in gloss, and semi gloss. It is one of the best rust prevention products on the market today, it can be painted on directly over rust, bare metal, painted surfaces etc. Best of all it is durable as hell, claimed by manufacturer to be almost "bullet proof". One thing I will tell you if you get it on your skin and it drys it wont be coming off for several weeks (trust me <- victim of this). You will most likely get a number of opinions on this, however, I just finished the remainder of my underbody and frame today, used this stuff, and all I can say is " I cant believe I never used it before". It looks fantastic, a bit pricey (30 bucks for a quart) but that quart will do your entire frame and underbody. Good luck. Jason.

I agree, eats through latex and will turn you black until your skin comes off, just a good demonstration of how long it will stay on your car. Did a frame with POR 15 and left it out for the winter (wasnt home and tarp blew off) and was amazed to see that teh frame was just as i left it, aside from the dirt and etc. Worth the money, but it does have a crappy shelf life so don't buy more than you need.
