Need help in finding out what this frame is ,the numbers I found on left rear are 1 17 67 then below that is 3893329 this is the best I can make it out has alot of rust pitting. The guy said he thought it was a 67 2 door chevelle but need to make sure .This one looks a little different in the front behind front suspension than the frame I have under current 67 2 door.

It must be shortened 3.27" somewhere between the rear body mount and crossmember. See this photo and note the extra length. If you do use the Elky frame, the VIN on the frame won't match the body any longer. You may want to check with the DMV so they KNOW what you're doing...they may need to issue you a legal VIN for the finished car. Maybe it would never come up but just in case you don't want two different VINs on the vehicle if the law is looking at it.

I check the frame measurement according to chart and everything measured out as a coupe, rechecked numbers 3893329.Could the factory have stamped this wrong ?The side rails are 3.5 inches tall where old frame is 4 inches and is only welded together in front a bend, the old frame is welded in front at bend ,welded at back side rail before rear suspension and back end after rear suspension.Could this have been a 66 frame that was carried over to 67.The other numbers were 1 17 67.

My GM Parts & Accessories catalog doesn't show that part number but it probably changed between 1967 and my book's date of 1971. However, a 67 frame seems to be different from 64-66 and 68-72 and oddly enough, no sport coupe frame is shown as such. But there are notes saying when using this frame (conv., wagon, or 64-66) to use a specified part # trans support. Going by the note, 64-67 frames should be the same basic frame.

With all the welding noted, could it be an Elky frame that's already been shortened to fit a coupe?

Sorry for this johnny-come-lately response, but I just lifted the body off of my '67 SS coupe and found the same frame part number--3893329. Don't believe this frame has seen the light of day since the factory. The frame s/n number matches the body number. I also believe this was an original SS car as it has all the telltale configurations with no sign of alterations. As I clean the light-to-moderate surface rust, I'm seeing signs of welding as if the unit had undergone some factory adjustments. The measurements, however, seem bang on. The stamped date is 4 19 67 shift 3, and it's stamped PARISH.
