I'm trying to ID these bucket seats that were in a 1964 SS Chevelle when it was purchased. I do know they are not for a 1964 Chevelle as I trashed PUI and Legendary seat covers before I measured them. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

Those are 63/64 corvair/Nova/f85 seats. They look the same as a-body seats at a glance, but they are wider than a-body seats.

About the power seat tracks, correct me if I'm wrong but the one pictured on the left is correct for '70-'71 but I was told that the one on the right with two actuators (one on each side) and more cables is supposedly a '72 only model…

Hi all and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

My question is regarding rebuilding of the bucket seats w/headrest. I have looked (Googled) for step by step rebuilding of the bucket seats for a 1972 Chevelle and I can't seem to find any. The search terms I have used have been "Rebuilding Bucket Seats", Rebuilding GM Bucket Seats and various "Chevelle bucket seats" the results that I have had returned have been like the recovering of the seat and so forth what I'm looking for is if I had everything to build the seats (Frames, Foam, Covers, Hog Rings etc.) I cannot seem to find a video or a Written guide on how to do this. If anyone can point me in the direction or provide a link it would be greatly appreciated. I maybe searching with the wrong terms or something not right.

Thanks

John

'64-72 BUCKET SEAT TRACKS:
As a rule, all A-body bucket seat tracks will interchange with each other relating to bolt mounting patterns; track to seat frame, and track to floor.
As a rule, A-body bench seat tracks will not interchange with bucket seats.

'64-65 seat track adjustment levers bend upwards close to the seat frame.
'64-65 Chevelle uses a "squared-off" chrome knob with a raised ridge on top.
'64-65 GTO uses an oblong chrome lever with embossed lines all around it.

'66-72 seat adjustment levers extend out from the track due to the metal or plastic side shells used in those years. Some levers have a curve or bend upwards.
Some '66 Chevelles had a chrome curved lever, "T" shaped cross section.
Most other '66-72 seat tracks use a "rounded-off" chrome knob.
'73 and up use a black plastic knob.

There are other variances in bucket seat tracks. Some mid-60s A-body Pontiac tracks are taller because the cars have deeper floor pans than Chevelle, but they will still interchange.
Some tracks will have slots rather than holes on the front feet, no problem.
All tracks have 2 holes on the rear feet.

'60-69 Corvair bucket seat tracks will also bolt up to A-body bucket seats.
'60-63 Corvair had no seat adjustment knob, just a spot-welded lever.
'64-69 Corvair have the chrome knob like Chevelle.

All A-body and Corvair chrome knobs and levers will interchange with all A-body and Corvair seat tracks.
'64-67 knobs and levers have a set screw on the bottom for attachment.
'68 and up knobs are pressed on, no set screw.

Again, there could be variances in all these chrome knobs and levers, depending on year and assembly plant.

If anyone needs a set of 68 buckets, I have a set. I need a correct set for a 67.
Looking for a trade if possible.

they say from a 70 but who knows. i'm just trying to see if legit. looking to buy for a 69 and i want to be original
Well no such option exists. The reason I asked was that 64 & 65 had a vinyl covered section on the back but all the A body seats 68 through 72 had hard plastic backs and 66-67 had metal backs.
You can make any 69-72 A body seat into 70 seats simply by changing the covers and possibly adding bolster rods if they don’t have them.

thanks. That was fast and accurate. If I’m recovering them would the shape be the same (roughly) to make replacement 66 chevelle seat covers fit? It’s not correct or ideal I know but I’m thinking it could get me by for now If it’s possible. Thanks again for the help.

They should be basically the same seat as a 66 Chevelle. Only difference (should be) the 67 seat should have a push button for seat back release. The 66 does not have this.
Check out the sticky by Rambo for bucket seat restoration. Lots of good tips in that thread.

Ok thanks to you both. Im happy to hear that. I’m off to check out the thread by Rambo
The only other thing about those 67 buick seats that might throw you for a loop (if you've never done them before) is they won't have the bolster listing rods placed the same as a chevelle-
They run right down the center for that center tuck in the buick covers... Chevelles have 2 of them just inside the bolsters on the upper and lower cushions.

Luckily its very easy to make new ones and move them where they need to be. Just something to be aware of.
Photos in some of the other threads (And mine) show exactly where to place them on the springs. If you need help relocating them pm me and i can get you very detailed pics of where they go.

Cheers!
Ben
