I've been in a heated debate for the past week with a good friend of mine. He is a Polaris 600 Quad owner, and I'm a former dirt bike bike rider/racer. My claim is the quad will always get better traction, no matter the scenario. My argument being simple laws of physics, and experience. The quad has at LEAST 8-16 times the contact patch on the ground, and only 2.5 times the weight of the dirt bike. I've ridden both, and the bike will easily spin the tire, while the quad, while in 4-wheel drive, will usually not. I'm simply looking for opinions to back my common sense theory, as he already (laughably) has a friend to back him.
This is only about traction, not all out speed. Although he can't seem to differentiate between the two! Am I nuts?
Thank you much, Steve
