Trying to help a friend with absolutley no taste in automobiles swap out a three speed manual trans for a four speed in a 71 Mustang with a 302 motor in it. We got a small block trans for it, just curious if there are any surprises waiting for us like it takes a special cross member, different driveshaft or pinion flange, stuff like that.

Want to trade?

I found out that the bell housing may or may not fit depending on which trans is in it now. Apparently there are small and large bolt patterns, can't make a large pattern work on a small pattern housing. We will see.

Thanks Leo, I'm sure no one here would want to go and flame one of our upstanding TC members... I think I have enough info to get the ball rolling. I hope the prices to do this job will wake the guy up and sell that "My little pony car"! We rip on him all of the time.
