Recently bought a Breedlove acoustic. Very nice playable guitar. The Alvarez was sold and the Fender sits in the closet.

In the last couple of months I've learned this song. I don't play it as well as the Frenchman does, but it's getting there:

Working on a version of this as well:

have a version of this one down pretty well

and one of this

and started learning this one, and it's a challenge for sure.

Whata you guys got?

All great pickers
I wish a had just a very small percentage of that talent.

I still love the Tommy Emmanuel Saturday Night Shuffle @ Chet Adkins Appreciation Society that you put me onto.

He said "any of those tunes are so much fun to play, I can play them a hundred times a day"

Well, I could watch that video a hundred times a day too but it's not just the pickin alone, it's the way he get's into his music and his movements that show how much he enjoys playing.

I got a Fender FatStrat (blocked for no tremelo), a Fender conventional Strat, and a Johnson acoustic. Just recently sold an Epiphone SG Bully and had countless others prior to those.
And while i can play rock &roll (SRV is my hero) I certainly do envy those who can finger pick! Good choices all!!!!

I think he may be the greatest picker ever. The range of music he plays and how well he does it is absolutely amazing. I figure, you've got your basic hackers like me, then you have your decent musicians who can make a living playing, then you have your virtuosi like Chet Atkins, and then once in maybe a generation or two you get someone who just transcends all of that and that's Tommy Emmanuel. Sort of like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, etc.

Really miss playing sometimes and think about building another one.

Thing is its a disease and an expensive one like cars. Too many toys to use with em these days.

Have a super super old Yamaha acoustic in my sisters attic

Electrics I sold yrs ago, gave up on bands.

Charvel, Ibanez were too of my favorites
had a Kramer I loved....fender strat I never really cared for.
Mixing and matching necks/bodies/pickups, tons of fun.

guitar instrumentals are my favorite kinds of music. most any instrumental is on my list of music I like to listen to.

I attempted to play while in the service back in the 60's, I think we all did to relieve the boredom and pressure of the day.

I play out of a jcm 900 with 4-12's and an old orange amp that I've had since the late 70's with a real gibson sg and a sold body one piece kramer, and few acoustic guitars ranging from classical yamy's to old slide guitars,if you guys get a chance youtube R.L.Burnside a great picker for sure,oh yeah and I have an og 1969 les paul bass.

One of these days I need to snap a picture of the '58 ES335 that my father bought new - in '58. The oddity of it, it's Cherry Red, which according to available info, Gibson didn't market the ES335 in Cherry Red until the 60's. Pop swears he got it in '58, not long after I was born (in '57). I kid him all the time - make sure it's clear in the will - this one is mine. That guitar has the warmest clean sound I've ever heard. Have an old Gibson tube amp downstairs (early 60's vintage). Best recorded sound comparison I can make of the ES335 plugged into that old Gibson tube is the guitar in Atlanta Rythm Section : Georgia Rythm.

I have a 66 Fender Mustang my dad bought me when 11 in 66, and I still have and play every night my 65 ES330 and my Gibson Scout amp my dad bought me when I was 12.

Gibson has a site where you can run the s/n and find out when your 335 was made.

I play a 1958 P-Bass ( Bought it in 1964 for $75.00), I also have a GLS, Its kinda heavy, And a late model Fender P-Bass (Japan or Korea I think) I love my 58, I has a nice sound that the new stuff well........
Play an axe from the fiftys, Strat, L. Paul, Eppie, Gretch,Mosrite or any old Solid or Hollow body. It could be just me, I like the Vintage sound of the old axes and Tube amps.
Hell everything I have is old, Two forty year old Chevelles ( Wagon & Camino) Fifty four year old P-Bass, When I stand between my TWO Chevelles,,,,,,,,, Your looking at " THREE " 70s ???
Bob:yes:

Those guys make me want to quit playing guitar! Undeniable talent. On another note, I never cared for Fender guitars. Single coil pick ups aren't hot enough for my music preference (Metal mostly, but I like all kinds of music). Their P basses and Jazz basses on the other hand are awesome and cover all music styles. Someday I'll own one. I just added another Jackson to my arsenal, an RR3 Randy Rhoads V, with a Duncan JB bridge pick up and a jazz for the neck. I also just picked up a used Marshall AVT150 half stack on the cheap. Sounds killer. It has an acoustic simulator, so my poor Yamaha acoustic is collecting dust, but still it sounds better. I sold a Roland Blues Cube about 3 years ago and I'm still mad at myself. I can't find one anywhere local and my buddy whom I sold it to loves it and will never sell it!

...some very good pickers for sure. I have a bunch of axes now that I'll never sell. Some that passed through my hands in the 70's are worth a fortune now. Who woulda known. Here's another guy (Andy McKee)...although a very different style, you have to appreciate. Reminiscent of the great Micheal Hedges (killed in a car accident)
