My pass side caliper bracket's threads for the caliper bolts are gummed up pretty good. Enough that the caliper will not bolt on straight. No one seems to know what size tap/chaser to use. Could someone please enlighten me?

Thanks!

I cant remember offhand, but have repaired these before. Just hit the parts store and have them pull out a new bolt (which you probably need anyway) and check the thread size and pitch. I had one that was so bad that a tap wasnt enough and I had to helicoil it.

Don't know the dimension, but if you have a spare bolt, you can make a chaser by cutting grooves in it (like the flutes in a tap). Then screw it in from the back, where the thread is isn't buggered up from your previous attempts. One of my favorite jury rigging tricks

There must be a NAPA or similar "real" parts store around, they should be able to hand you a brand new caliper mounting bolt. I have even seen them in the "help" line of general auto parts that are carried in the autozone type of stores. Once you have that bolt even if they cant check the threads you can take it to a hardware store and check it. If I get a chance I will check the garage, I should still have the helicoil kit around.
