I was wondering if there's any benefit in replacing my stock ss sway bars, and if so whats the best bars available? Is bigger better and how about hollow vs solid??? my car is a 72 ss lowered 2" mainly used for street w minor track duty.

Depends on your spring rates and front geometry. If you fix the geometry with taller spindles or tall balljoints, you don't need as big of bar. If you run heavy springs, you need even less.

Stock rates and geometry, I'd upgrade the front to a 1-1/4" from a 2nd gen Trans Am, as that's the best "bang for the buck".

Hi Kevin,

For your application (mostly street, a little autocross or track use) swapping out the bars is a great bolt-on mod that will make a huge difference in the way the car drives and handles. Our hollow bars are stronger and lighter than solid bars, and you'll notice decreased body roll, improved driver control and significantly more traction during cornering. Go with the bars first, then worry about arms and other parts later if you want to keep going with the project.

I disagree with this... sway bars are a tuning aid, and as such should be chosen based on your other suspension components, NOT the other way around. A sway bar upgrade is a good and easy "first" mod, but it would be better to at least have a plan together, then choose the bar based on that plan.

with that info i'm prob gonna stick with stock ss bars for time being until i rebuild my front suspension. Every bushing I can see looks torn and steering has slop in it lately? Might be box not sure but def scares me when i'm making banzai runs in the county.

Just curious, I have a 72 Chevelle with a Strange S60 rearend. Will your sport package fit properly around the Dana 60 style housing??
