first, are we sure its a plug problem and not a timing, carb or distributor issue? Second, I would use delco if the autolites arent satisfying you. I am running autolite 25's in my 396 without problems, although I plan to put some delco's in soon. I can say to stay away from the Champion plugs.

What range are the plugs your running now? And when you say it only moves a few feet, what happens? Sputters, Dies, backfires?

6 Deg. ahead...meaning 6 deg after TDC? Should be set for initial of ballpark 12 deg. BTDC or higher. My 396 is not stock and its set for an initial of 12 deg..may go to 14 btdc. Whether 6 deg atdc or btdc your initial is WAY low. Is it hard to start? I mean, before you get fouled plugs? My bets on the timing and carb, not the plugs. Whats the heat range on the plugs? 25's, ,26's?

someone else will jump in here shortly, just trying to get some feedback for others to help out.

I was also just thinking. A 650 Double pumper on a 402 BB? Mechanical secondarys are not as forgiving with cfm as vaccuum secondaries and I think that motor is under carb'd. If your looking for performance keep the mechanical secondary carb but move up to atleast a 750 cfm IMO. Off idle throttle response will be crisper and rpms will climb quicker with mechanical secondaries given that the cfm of the carb is what your mill wants (according to Barry Grant)I think that carbs just too small for a BB, especially not stock. Just something to think about.
