I know it's my decision, but I'm looking for additional input. My 72 El Camino was originally two-tone, blue, white, and blue, like CHELKAMINO’s. Sometime along the way, the upper body molding was removed due to rear quarter panel damage and the elky was painted solid blue (this is how I purchased it). I’m getting ready to start doing body work and have been contemplating repainting it the original two-tone paint scheme without the chrome upper and lower trim work (lower is still there but is not in very good condition). I was thinking of breaking the two colors with either a blue stripe (like the border stripe on an SS hood) or possibly using a silver pin stripe. I’m not wanting to invest a whole lot of money in the Elky (ie: trying to find the upper molding and replacing/polishing the lower molding) but the more I look at the two-tone paint scheme, the more I like it.
I’m going back with the original Lime Green Metallic color with white or black SS stripes on my ‘71 Chevelle, and have also thought about using the Lime green and white as my two colors for the El Camino. Any thoughts on that combination?
I don’t really care about keeping the elky original.
